Dear Fellow Redcatchers,
I
am at long last both pleased and proud to announce the completion of our 199th Light Infantry Brigade Memorial
Monument's move to it's new and prominent setting within the Patriot Park Campus, on the Memorial Walk of
Honor and overlooking the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center, Soldier Field and the WW II Company Street (facilities
in use as late at the 1990's). Without the many donations from you, my Redcatcher brothers, this would not have
been possible. For your wonderful generosity and response to this, our cause, please accept my heartfelt thank
you and appreciation. Our monument belongs to all that wore the patch and, in this place of honor, will serve to
remind both us and future generations of the contributions and supreme sacrifices made in order to preserve the freedoms
and opportunities we all enjoy
I would be remiss if not to call out and commend one from within our own
ranks, our 199th LIB Association Treasurer, Jim Brinker. He has helped to spearhead this effort from the very beginning
and has done a stalwart job in pursuit of that effort. At his own expense and on his own time, he elected to
put his "boots on the ground", so to speak, consulting with our present day brigade officers, both commissioned
and non-commissioned, as well as monument service representatives, not to mention the countless phone calls made and
e-mails sent. Thank you, a ton, Jim for all of your hard work in helping us accomplish this mission.
Lastly, for those Redcatchers planning to attend the official 199th LIB Monument dedication ceremony
at Ft. Benning on Veteran's Day, Nov. 11, 2011 (14:00 hrs.), please note the Museum's link for more information about it
and exact location/map: http://www.nationalinfantrymuseum.com.
Again, thank you all so much for your help. I wish you good
health and the opportunity for us to meet during our next Redcatcher reunion in San Antonio, 2012.
Redcatchers
Forever,
Dan Nixon, Pres. 199th LIB Association
