Legacy Memorials
We have received word that the Commanding General at
Ft Benning, Georgia has approved the renaming of the 199th Brigade Headquarters building in honor of Major General Frederic
Ellis Davison. As you know, previously, the Brigade has committed to naming the Brigade Conference Room in honor of Brigadier
General William Ross Bond.
Both men are previous commanders of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade (Vietnam) and both had
long and distinguished military careers. Neither the naming of the conference room nor the naming of the building could have
been accomplished had it not been for the energy, effort, and commitment of the members of the ad hoc Association committee
and the efforts of the active Brigade.
I would be remiss if I did not call out for special mention the efforts of Peter
Joannides and the late George Holmes for all they did in forming the original association and for bringing us all together.
Without their inspiration, this would not have been possible.
We should and do feel honored that the Brigade took up
the cause and worked tirelessly with our committee, providing not only sound advice and good counsel but also wholehearted
support and much needed guidance. Without the active efforts of the Brigade, these events would not have happened. For their
efforts, kindness, and assistance, we are most grateful.
I have attached copies of Major General Davison's nomination
Packet and a write up on Brigadier General Bond from Opperation Sergeant Major Larry Haddix's office for your perusal. The
building dedications are planned for 11 November 2011 to coincide with the official dedication of the 199th monuments renovation
and relocation to infantry

We are planning a dinner meal the night before, for all participants. We
will also see if we can get transportation to and from the ceremony at the Brigade. Lastly, we will also provide this information
periodically to help us determine a tally of who is planning to attend.
